Pop Rocks have been a pop culture phenomenon since the 1970's when they were invented by accident. Since then many urban legends have quickly spread regarding exploding Pop Rocks. Mikey from the Life cereal commercial was rumoured to have died from an explosion of Pop Rocks and Coca Cola. When Pop Rocks were taken off the market in 1983 it made these rumours seem all the more real. Pop Rocks were back on the market soon after. And Mikey is still alive, and still likes Pop Rocks!
