Sweet Memories with Old Fashion Candy and Candy Queen
The weekly allowance we so eagerly spent at the corner store, down the street. Delighting in that brown paper bag! The grandmother that always happen to have your candy of choice on hand, or gave you a few dollars to go and buy it. Or that favourite aunt, that always had the prettiest crystal dishes full of it!
Maybe you remember Christmas, all that excitement on Christmas morning, racing downstairs to dump your stocking full of treats, and of course stealing all the candy canes that adorned the tree! Perhaps, it's Easter you think of, a basket full of chocolate and jelly beans and half eaten bunny ears. What about Halloween! When you dressed up, proudly screaming "trick or treat" at the top of your lungs. Collecting bags or pillowcases of candy, comparing who got more of what and, "I'll trade ya" this for that. Yes, those were the days, the sweet good old days!
Unfortunately, we grow up and have to become responsible adults, but adults, that still love candy! We all still have that special old fashioned candy we love to remember! Candy that our childhood heart still craves, and takes us all the way back to those sweet memories. Those candy memories, that live on the streets we grew up on, with the kids we played with, in those long summer days that we thought would last forever. The rumors have since been dismissed, and there are millions of us still alive after trying this dare! I did, and I live to tell the tale! The biggest rumor about Pop Rocks, was that Mikey from the Life Cereal commercials died because his stomach exploded. This is NOT TRUE! He is alive and well today! There was even a special hotline set up for concerned parents. Pop Rocks have certainly had their share of fame. They are a pretty amazing candy, you don't just taste them, you actually feel them explode. They are fun to eat for the sensation and also really do taste great. Pop Rocks were stumbled upon by an accident, by a chemist that worked for General Foods. William A. Mitchell. Pop Rocks were patented in 1956, but didn't hit the shelves until two decades later. Better late then never! Grab a pack of your favourite Pop Rocks and drink a pop with them. I dare you!!!
